The CIMR Centre is within the University "POLITEHNICA" of Bucharest.  The CIMR Centre was founded in 1993, as an interdisciplinary research entity having juridical personality and full strategic and economic autonomy, strongly connected to industry, with the primary mission of carrying out research in strategic areas for Romania. The main goal of the CIMR Centre is to promote the science base in advanced automatic control, information technology, robotics, intelligent manufacturing systems, technologies for materials with special properties.

Major areas of activity
1. Research and Development

  • Fundamental and applied research in the fields of automatic control, robotics, artificial vision and CIM, manufacturing technologies and high quality materials, intelligent systems
  • Methodologies and systems for computer integration of all major functions of manufacturing enterprises; key solutions for low-cost automation in small and medium sized companies; quality control
  • Expert systems for real time application; design of microprocessor-based control systems
  • Network trouble management, mobile Internet protocol; Local Area Networks in industry and services
  • Object Oriented software design; database management
  • Technical support, evaluation and consulting in information technology transfer and management

2. Training and Qualification

  • Curriculum design for educational programs (teaching and training) addressed to both undergraduate and graduate levels; design and development of teachware in technical fields: automatic control, computer techniques, information technology, industrial communication, robotics, applied Artificial Vision, production planning, resource management, material technologies
  • Advanced training in control engineering, robotics and CIM, information technology, computer-based process control, CAD, material resource planning, by means of lectures, seminars and laboratory classes
  • Postgraduate courses, retraining and qualification of personnel from education, industry and services
  • Design and development of educational means

3. Joint and Cooperative Projects

  • Interactions with other universities, centres and research groups, industrial companies, scientific foundations, work groups and with other similar organisations both from Romania and abroad
  • Joint research projects on contract basis and within European research & training programs
  • Organisation of conferences, symposia, workshops
  • Mutual visits, students and researchers mobility, knowledge sharing and publications
  • Specific international programs integration (e.g. TEMPUS, EUREKA, COPERNICUS, a.s.o.)
