CNC Milling Machine

The CNC milling machine is an EMCO F1 CNC Mill produced in 1991 and has the following technical specification:

  • Type: educational 3-axis vertical / horizontal milling machine;
  • Machined parts maxim dimensions: 200 x 100 x 50 mm;
  • Milling tools diameters: 3 – 15 mm;
  • Tool changing: manual;
  • Feed drive: step motors in X/Y/Z with a resolution of 0.01mm;
  • Feed rate: 0 – 400 mm/min, rapid traverse 600 mm/min;
  • Spindle speed: 0 – 2000 rot/min;
  • Programming language ISO CNC – RS274D;
  • PC communication: RS 232 – 300 bps.

The CNC machine is programmed using the ISO CNC language, known as G-Code. Moving instruction generate a line or an arc. Each moving instruction has as parameter the destination point coordinates. The moving instructions that generate circular trajectories include also the circle (arc) center coordinates.

Using the I/O signals the following commands and states are available to the user:
Input signals:

  1. vice closing/opening;
  2. loading program;
  3. program execution;
  4. auto / manual mode.

Output signals:

  1. vice state;
  2. program execution over;
  3. auto / manual mode.

The manual command of the machine is done only by using the control panel.
